He plays a City high-flier brought back to Earth

Phil Davis is piloting a new BBC comedy pilot set in a caravan park.

In Static, the Poldark actor will play a high-flier who gives up a top job in the City to return to live with his wife and children. But he finds that the new family home is a caravan park in Margate.

Davis, who plays Jud in the period drama, told the Radio Times: ‘He decides to give up the rat race and rings them up and he wants to come back but they tell him where they are living - and his bed is a pull out sofa on this caravan. It’s very funny".

A half-hour pilot will be filmed this summer.

Coincidentally, Static is the second programme based in a static caravan park that is being developed for TV.

Brian Pern creator Rhys Thomas is working on a drama series set in a caravan park populated by divorced men, based on the experiences of his own father.
