A big bill for a big bill...
The best of the week's live comedy.
Monday June 12
LONDON: A benefit for Jim Tavare – and a reminder how amazing the NHS is. As we've reported before, the British comic was very badly injured in a car crash in Los Angeles earlier this year, and as he makes progress along the slow road to recovery, he needs help meeting his substantial medical bills. He has some very famous friends who are helping him do just that at the Lyric Theatre tonight, including Dara O Brian, Harry Hill and Alan Davies. And Stewart Lee and Milton Jones and Jo Brand. And Dave Johns and Hal Cruttenden and Zoe Lyons, and Pauls Chowdhry and Zerdin. An unbeatable line-up, and tickets are available here.
Wednesday June 14
LONDON: Mischief-making political comic Andrew Maxwell laughs at the parlous state of the world with a highly entertaining three-night run at the Soho Theatre from tonight.
Thursday June 15
GLASGOW: Penn and Teller's tour hits the SECC for a couple of nights, with jaw-dropping illusion and smart-assed wit making a spectacle to remember.
Friday June 16
LONDON: Another great bill at Bush Hall Presents, out in W12. The dry Duke of comedy, James Acaster, combines with puckish Ed Gamble and political livewire Nish Kumar for an excellent night.
Saturday June 17
SALFORD: Dave Johns has rather belatedly in life found a new career as an actor, thanks to Ken Loach and I, Daniel Blake. But he spent rather a long time before that being good at comedy. Find out for yourself at the Lowry tonight.
