Comedy stars in new version of Metamorphosis

Comics including Tom Basden, Tim Key and Emma Sidi are to star in a new version of Franz Kafka’s Metamorphosis.

W1A star Baden is to play the lead role of Gregor Samsa – who awakes one morning transformed into a giant insect – in the new adaptation for Radio 4.

Sidi plays his younger sister, Grete, who becomes his carer while Felicity Montagu and Cuckoo actor Kenneth Collard play his parents.

Key plays a pest controller and fellow comic Mike Bubbins plays a character called Mr Lazarus

It is not the first time some of the cast have been involved with the Bohemian existentialist. In 2010, Basden adapted Kafka's The Trial for the London stage, with Key in the starring role.

Kafka's Metamorphosis drama is due to air on Saturday June 24, at 2.30pm. It is part of Radio 4's Dangerous Vision series, 'explores contemporary takes on future dystopias'.
