Who's representing the UK at Montreal's Just For Laughs

Sarah Millican, Gina Yashere, Aisling Bea, Joe Lycett, James Acaster and Seann Walsh will be flying the flag for the UK and Ireland at this year’s Just For Laughs festival in Montreal.

They will be performing at the Brit(ish)showcase at the festival, which is headlined by Jerry Seinfeld.

Meanwhile, British-based Canadian Katherine Ryan will be performing a solo show at the more edgy OFF-JFL/Zoofest strand, while Jimmy Carr will also be making his regular appearance as part of The Nasty Show.

Just For Laughs is a favourite for the talent spotters of Hollywood and New York, with many comedians getting a big break there. A ComedyPRO conference also appeals to the industry players.

Seinfeld – who first appeared at the festival in 1989 will co-headline a gala event with French comic star Gad Elmaleh to mark the 35th anniversary of the event.

Other big names include Judd Apatow, who is returning to his stand-up roots, Kevin Hart, Trevor Noah, John Mulaney, David Spade,  Mike Birbiglia and Orange Is The New Black star Laverne Cox.

The pitch for the Brit(ish) showcase is: ‘You’ll laugh so hard, the Queen on your money will silently judge you for being so improper.’
