Tonys nod for Tim Minchin
Tim Minchin has been shortlisted for a Tony Award for his Groundhog Day score.
The show was also nominated for best musical in Broadway’s leading accolades, while Danny Rubin’s book, based on his screenplay of the 1993 movie, was nominated for the best book.
And star Andy Karl is up for best leading actor in a musical.
In the best musical category, Groundhog Day is up against Come From Away, Dear Evan Hansen and Natasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812.
The same four musicals compete in the best score and best book categories.
Minchin was previously nominated for best score for Matilda in 2013, but lost out to Cyndi Lauper for Kinky Boots.
