Ross Noble to appear in Young Frankenstein
Ross Noble is to appear in the new musical stage version of the Mel Brooks comedy Young Frankenstein.
He will play the role of hunchbacked servant Igor, made famous by comic legend Marty Feldman in the original 1974 film.
Birds Of A Feather star Lesley Joseph will play housekeeper Frau Blucher and West End star Hadley Fraser will play Dr Frederik Frankenstein, the grandson of the infamous Dr Victor Frankenstein as originally played by Gene Wilder.
The show will open at the Garrick Theatre in London on September 28, following a two-week season at the Theatre Royal Newcastle from Saturday August 26 to Saturday September 9.
Brooks adapted his 1974 film for the stage with the aid of co-writer Thomas Meehan and Broadway director and choreographer Susan Stroman.
It previously ran on Broadway, opening in November 2007 to mixed reviews and closing in 2009 after 30 previews and 484 performances.
Brooks and his team are said to have made changes to the show since that New York run.
Noble tweeted today: ‘Working with Mel Brooks is as big a treat any comedy fan could ask for. He is 90 but has the energy of a teenager a true legend."
