Cunk, Fleabag and McIntyre lead Bafta nods
Philomena Cunk is up for two Baftas.
And the programme that spawned her is also in the running for an award.
Both Cunk on Shakespeare and Charlie Brooker's 2016 Wipe have been nominated for best comedy or comedy entertainment programme in this year’s awards. The shortlist is completed by The Last Leg and Taskmaster.
And Diane Morgan is up for best female performance in a comedy show for playing Cunk, alongside Lesley Manville for Mum, and Olivia Colman and Phoebe Waller-Bridge – both for Fleabag. That is the same list as the nominees for best TV actor at the Chortle Awards last month, which was won by Waller-Bridge.
Fleabag is also shortlisted for best scripted comedy programme, alongside Camping, Flowers and People Just Do Nothing.
Up for best male performance in a comedy programme are Asim Chaudhry for People Just Do Nothing, David Mitchell for Upstart Crow, Harry Enfield for The Windsors and Steve Coogan for Alan Partridge’s Scissored Isle.
Elsewhere, Michael McIntyre is up for two Baftas: for best entertainment performance and best entertainment programme
Adam Hills, Claudia Winkleman and Graham Norton are his fellow nominees in the performance category.
And in best programme, Michael McIntyre’s Big Show is up against Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway, Britain’s Got Talent and Strictly Come Dancing.
The Bafta awards will be handed out at the Royal Festival Hall on London’s South Bank on May 14. Hosted by Sue Perkins, the show will be aired on BCB One.
