Christmas just got weird...
The comedy week ahead.
Monday December 5
LIVE IN LONDON: You might not have much a hope of getting tickets for this, but Phoebe Waller-Bridge is bringing her show Fleabag back to where it started, the Soho Theatre, following its mega-acclaimed BBC Three success. The frank account of a chaotic life is on until the 16th.
Tuesday December 6
LIVE IN LONDON: John Kearns follows his back-to-back Edinburgh Comedy Award wins with a new show for Christmas. It's based on recordings he made of his family's turkey dinners in 2011 and 2012. He says: 'They reveal such details as the changing landscape of South London bus routes and the disappearance of cod, all soundtracked to Elvis singing The Wonderful World of Christmas. At time of writing, I can't promise that this isn't the entire show.' A John Kearns Christmas is at the Battersea Arts Centre until Saturday.
Wednesday December 7
LIVE IN LONDON: Speaking of peculiar takes on the festive season, My Weirdos Big Fat Christmas Wedding, this year's pantomime from the odd, and sometimes slapdash, alternative comedy collective, is at the Leicester Square Theatre from today until Friday. It stars Adam Larter, Beth Vyse, Gareth Morinan, John Kearns, Katia Kvinge, Jack De'ath, Bob Slayer, Joz Norris, Ben Target, William Lee and Eleanor Morton.
LIVE IN NEWCASTLE: Jason Cook's Laffs4Kids fundraiser returns to the City Hall, raising money for Metro Radio Cash for Kids. Acts include Carl Hutchinson, Gavin Webster, Jason Cook, Steffen Peddie and The Mimic Men. Admission is £5 plus a new and unwrapped toy, which will be given to a disadvantaged local child.
LIVE IN BRIGHTON: Bridget Christie's hilariously uncomprehending anger at the EU referendum leads the comedy in a packed charity fundraiser to help end violence towards women. Affable-with-an-edge Laura Lexx, offbeat character comic Joanna Neary and skilled performer Jen Brister are also on the bill at the Komedia, along with many others.
Thursday December 8
LIVE IN LONDON: Frank Sanazi, the Hitler-liker 'ubermeister of swing' returns for his annual cheerily bad-taste Christmas cabaret, the Weihnachten Show, at the 100 Club in Oxford Street. He's joined by his dictatorial musical sidekicks Saddami Davis Junior and Dean Stalin, alongside other odd comedy acts.
LIVE IN LONDON: It's a strong weekend at the Comedy Store all weekend, with America's Got Talent star Tape Face adding a touch of silent comedy variety to the usual stand-up-heavy bill. Super-charming Joe Lycett and pin-sharp Zoe Lyons are also on, alongside Store regulars Paul Thorne and Ian Coppinger.
Friday December 9
RADIO: Series three of Armando Iannucci's Charm Offensive starts a six-part repeat run on Radio 4 Extra at 11pm. Assisted by Stewart Lee, Mark Watson and Justin Edwards, Iannucci discusses topics ranging from Girls Aloud dolls causing existential angst to a recall of some copies of Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows because a printing error implied that Hermione spent half the book 'dressed as slutty version of Harry's dead mother'. It first aired in 2007
