JIM GAFFIGAN has joined the cast of Fargo. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the stand-up has a regular role as police deputy Donny Mashman in season three of the atmospheric crime drama, which is due to air next year.

A RARE early copy of Viz comic has made £900 at auction, 30 times its estimated price. Newcastle auctioneers Anderson and Garland in Northumberland sold the copy of issue No 4, from 1980 yesterday. The previous Viz record was £880, for a copy of issue No 1.

STAND-UP Billy Kirkwood is to become a breakfast DJ, taking over the slot on Ayrshire’s West FM show from Monday. He replaces DJ Colin McArdle alongside Zoe Kelly.

IRISH comedy movie The Young Offenders, which stars stand-up PJ Gallagher is to get a UK release after being snapped up by distributor Vertigo.  Inspired by Ireland’s biggest cocaine seizure, which took place off the coast of Cork, the film follows two inner-city teenagers on a road trip on stolen bikes in search of unrecovered drugs. No release date has yet been set.

KEVIN HART is set to play Santa Claus. The comic is reportedly in talks to star in Disney’s new family comedy Dashing Through the Snow, in which Father Christmas comes to the aid of a  workaholic New York cop.
