Violence flares at US comedy club

A heckler was shot at after a night at a comedy club ended in gunfire.

The victim, a 33-year-old man, was also allegedly hit over the head with a bottle after a row broke out at the stand-night in El Paso, New Mexico.

He had earlier been involved in an argument with one of the comedians on Saturday night’s bill at the Amaro Winery, and threw wine over the performer.

A 32-year-old suspect was yesterday arrested over the incident.  He was seen chatting to the comic earlier in the night, according to local media reports. Detectives believe he retaliated with the bottle, then fired a shot from his Jeep as he drove off.

No one was injured as a result of the shot, but the victim received a cut to his head from the bottle.
