F*** you, Ricky Gervais
American comedian TJ Miller has savaged Ricky Gervais as 'an awful little puggish man who needs to stop yelling at Hollywood which gave him a chance'.
Miller laid into Gervais over the cynicism he displays when the hosting Golden Globes awards.
'Culturally America is at the forefront,' he said. 'and although we can make fun of [Hollywood] for being empty and ridiculous, we also should say that these people worked their whole lives to make content and make movies and television that are important to people. So let's celebrate them… So fuck you Ricky Gervais.'
Miller recently hosted the Critics Choice Awards with a series of silly sketches, in contrast to Gervais's 'roast' approach.
He took a swipe at Gervais from the stage, but in a new interview on US radio station SiriusXM, Miller revealed the jokes that were cut from his script.
Miller also defended Mel Gibson, who was the butt of Gervais's withering wit, saying: 'Mel Gibson was in Lethal Weapon. I know he's fucked it up but, don't get down on him. He's a great American actor from the lexicon of American cinem.'
'And then Ricky Gervais was in Ghost Town. Yeah, really, go ahead and laugh. The only thing funny about it was that he was in it. And Ghost Town was less a movie and more a description of the theatres in which it played.'
Then Miller turned to another Gervais movie, The Invention of Lying?. saying: 'I'll invent a lie. Ricky Gervais has done anything interesting since The Office. There's a lie right there.'
He added: 'I really wanted to attack him almost as much as the teeth on the lower part of his mouth are trying to attack the upper part of his mouth. He's just an awful little puggish man who needs to stop yelling at Hollywood which gave him a chance and it didn't work and now he's the Hollywood Foreign Press's jester? Like, fuck him.'
'Nobody even knows how to pronounce his last name including him. What's going on? He has a French last name, but he's a little puggish Brit. I don't get it."
Miller, who also has a major role as Weasel in the new Deadpool movie, told presenter Ron Bennington he has never met Gervais – 'and I don't care to.'
