Michael McIntyre is Mr Saturday Night
BBC One has signed Michael McIntyre to present a new Saturday night comedy and variety show.
Michael McIntyre’s Big Show will feature celebrity guests, musical performances and stand-ups, and will be recorded in front of a live audience in the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane.
The commission of six episodes follows the success of the comedian’s similar Christmas and Easter shows.
McIntyre said: ‘I’m thrilled to be back on BBC One with my new big show which, after several lengthy meetings, we’ve called Michael McIntyre’s Big Show.
‘I’m so excited to be making an entertainment show for the whole family to enjoy together on Saturday night (or alone in the week on iPlayer, whatever suits!).’
Alan Tyler, the controller of BBC entertainment commissioning who ordered the show with BBC One controller Charlotte Moore added: ‘Michael McIntyre is a born entertainer. Not only is he one of the funniest comedians in the country but he is also terrific with members of the audience.
‘Combining those skills in an all-new show is a real treat. We are delighted to be bringing his first Saturday night entertainment series to BBC One audiences.’
Michael McIntyre’s Big Christmas Show was seen by 3.62million viewers on December 25.
