Americans take The Job Lot
ITV2 comedy The Job Lot is to be remade for the American market.
The ABC network has ordered a rewritten script for its version, likely to be called The Job Squad, Hollywood website Deadline reports.
Action will switch from the fictitious town of Brownall in the West Midlands to the real town of Burlington in Vermont.
Stephnie Weir, last seen on the Billy Crystal mockumentary series The Comedians will co-write the script and star as Trish, the office manager played by Sarah Hadland in the UK version.
She is writing with Greg Garcia, the creator of My Name Is Earl, and the pair will be executive producers of the new version alongside Kenton Allen and Matthew Justice from Big Talk Productions, makers the original series.
The Job Lot, which also stars Russell Tovey and Jo Enright, launched on ITV in April 2013, but was relegated to ITV2 for its second run last year. The third series, which introduced Nick Mohammed as Ash, ended last month.
Written by Claire Downes, Stuart Lane and Ian Jarvis, the show has featured a number of famous guest stars, including Maureen Lipman, John Thomson and Meera Syal.
