CATASTROPHE co-creator Sharon Horgan won the writing award at the 25th annual Women in Film and TV Awards last night. The event was hosted by Sandi Toksvig, who also won the achievement of the year gong for her work with the Women's Equality Party.

FRIENDS star Matthew Perry is returning to the West End stage – for his debut as a playwright. The dark comedy The End Of Longing, which will run at the Playhouse Theatre from February 2 to May 14 is about 'a drunk, a prostitute, a woman who's extremely neurotic and addicted to antidepressants, and a simpleton'. He said it took him ten days to write.

FRANKIE BOYLE cancelled his gig at Middlesbrough Town Hall last night with just hours before curtain-up, due to illness. The show has been rescheduled for Saturday February 27.

THE finalists have been announced in this year's Jewish Comedian Of The Year, which will be decided at the JW3 community centre in North London tomorrow. They are Aaron Levene, Geneva Rust Orta, Philip Simon, Joshua Bellman, Samuel Burke and Adam Reed.
