Bunistoun duo unveil a new show
Burnistoun creators Iain Connell and Robert Florence are to debut a new live show at next year's Glasgow International Comedy Festival.
The pair have created two new characters for Uncles, described as 'a couple of guys talking about life's big issues… men of real experience, men who know ALL the answers'.
The pair performed their first Burnistoun live show at last year's Glasgow festival, the first of which sold out in under an hour.
Connell said it 'felt a bit soon' to return to the characters, but promised: 'It won't be that dramatic a change' from the BBC Scotland show.
However he did tell the Daily Record: 'Uncles isn't based on anyone's uncles in particular. They're the kind of guys who, if you imagine going to a family party, will be sitting there drinking away and putting the world to rights. There's an air of mystery about them.
'We thought that taking that angle, making a pair of uncles become the audience's uncles would be a good way of doing something a bit more adult than some of the Burnistoun stuff, which is maybe a wee bit juvenile at times.'
The original BBC series ran from a pilot 2009 to 2012, with a one-off special which aired this August.
Uncles will be unveiled at the King's Theatre on March 16, and tickets go on sale tomorrow.
Other acts appearing at the Glasgow International Comedy Festival, which runs from March 10 to 27, include Paul Merton, Julian Clary, Rob Delaney, Bridget Christie, Mark Watson and Richard Herring.
