London gig for Tim Minchin
Tim Minchin is to perform a rare London gig. He will be headlining a show at the Old Vic Theatre on November 15 alongside Mark Watson, magician Dynamo and the Tredegar Town Band. It is the first in a new series of variety night to be held at the theatre, whose artistic director Matthew Warchus also directed Matilda: The Musical, which Minchin wrote the music for. He said: 'Three of my favourite things are music, magic and comedy, hence my eagerness to introduce a series of Old Vic Variety Nights.' Tickets go on sale at noon on Friday.
PATRICE O'NEAL is to release a posthumous album in December. The Lost Files: Circa 2005 contains more than a hour of material, including such provocative tracks as 'Women Don't Know How To Be Funny' and 'I Luke Being Racist',and will be out on December 4. Preorder the digital album.
JIMMY CARR has announced a new batch of dates for a mammoth 'greatest hits' tour, kicking off in peterborough in May and running right through until November 2007. Tickets go on sale on Thursday. The tour comes straight of the back of his current Funny Business tour.
ROB BECKETT has cancelled his show at Sheffield City Hall tomorrow, citing 'unforeseen personal circumstances'. The venue is trying to reschedule a date for 2016, but fans can get refunds on their tickets if they don't want to wait for the new date. It is the only gig in his Mouth Of The South tour to be affected, and comes after Chris Ramsey cancelled his Sunday show at the venue as his wife was induced into labour.
THE finalists of this year's Liverpool Comedian of the Year competition, run by the Hot Water Comedy Club, are Harry Stachini, Alexander Oliver, Phil Reid, Damien Ryan, Daniel Soff and Allan Finnegan. The final takes place on Sunday, when the acts will compete for a £200 prize.
