Third series for Inside No 9
Inside No 9 is coming back for a third series, it has finally been confirmed.
Reece Shearsmith announced the news on Twitter this morning, saying he and Steve Pemberton had written the new episodes.
His confirmation comes a week after BBC Two controller Kim Shillinglaw told an interviewer the anthology show was 'in line' for a third series.
Shearsmith tweeted: 'This is rumour control - here are the facts. We are indeed making a third series of Inside No 9. Steve and I have written the new series.'
The actor and writer will be leaving his role in the acclaimed London play Hangmen when it transfers from The Royal Court Theatre to the West End in December, so he can work on the new series of Inside No 9.
The first series of six unconnected films launched in February 2014 to great critical acclaim but modest audiences, averaging under million viewers. The second run launched in March this year with 1.1 million viewers.

Shillinglaw also said she would 'love to see' a second series of Boy Meets Girl, the first British sitcom featuring a transgender lead. The news was later confirmed in tweets from the cast – but they were subsequently deleted.
She made similar noises about recommissions for W1A and Danny Baker's comedy Cradle To Grave, although neither of these have been officially confirmed either.
