Alan Davies to climb Everest
ALAN DAVIES has joined the expedition to stage a stand-up gig on Mount Everest. The QI star will perform alongside Tommy Tiernan, Craig Campbell and Glenn Wool at base camp, 5,365m above sea level, in front of 50 comedy fans who will make the trip with them, The show, in aid of Save The Children, will now take place on April 16 next year after being twice postponed. SIMON DAY has postponed his one-off gig in the guise of prog-rock pioneer Brian Pern. He had been due to play the Lyric Theatre in London's West End on Monday week, but has pulled it due to 'unforeseen circumstances'. The show, including an interview with co-creator Rhys Thomas and a performance of some of his greatest hits. will now be on Monday February 1. Ticket holders will be contacted.
E4's Chewing Gum won the battle of the new comedies last night. Michaela Coel's show, dubbed 'the rudest thing on British TV' won 299,000 viewers at 10pm, the highest rated of three new shows, but still down on the 337,000 average that slot normally attracts. Meanwhile Jonny Sweet's BBC Three romcom Together had 248,000 viewers, according to Overnights.tv, and Ryan Sampson's ITV2 hidden camera sketch show Glitchy drew 160,000, less than half the 370,000 slot average.
