Jennifer Saunders to appear in Josh Widdicombe's sitcom
COMEDIANS ranging from Jennifer Saunders to the Chuckle Brothers are to make cameos in Josh Widdicombe’s sitcom, Josh. The six-part series will air on BBC Three in November following a Comedy Feed pilot last year. The flatshare comedy co-stars Beattie Edmondson (Jennifer Saunders' daughter) and Elis James with Jack Dee playing thier annoying landlord Geoff. Other comics to be making cameos include Romesh Ranganathan and James Acaster, it has been announced today.
THE BBC has launched a new trivia quiz app based on its hit sitcoms. The corporation’s commercial arm, BBC Worldwide, has released the Comedy Genius game for Android and Apple phones and tablets, featuring hundreds of questions. The app, developed with QuizTix, is free but contains in-app purchases.
THE BLUNDABUS, the Edinburgh Fringe venue run by Bob Slayer, has found itself a London home. The double-decker will be hosting gigs including regular Friday night shows from its base at 259 Hackney Road, Hackney, from October 2, when it is not visiting festivals elsewhere in the country.
ADVERTISING copywriter George Lewis was named Comedy Knights Fresh Comedian of 2015 by the London club last night; with Beni Waterstones as runner-up. More than 160 newer stand-ups had entered the competition. Bobby Carroll of Comedy Knights said: ‘George is an absolute bobby dazzler of an act, rooms just love his softly-spoken and charming style.’
NEW Daily Show host Trevor Noah has won the first South African of the Year accolade.
