Meet The Kennedys
These are the first pictures from the new BBC sitcom The Kennedys, based on the memoirs of actress, writer and TV presenter Emma Kennedy.
The series stars the IT Crowd's Katherine Parkinson and Angelos Epithemiou creator Dan Skinner as her parents Brenda and Tony.
In the first of six episodes – which airs at 9.30pm on Friday October 2 – Brenda is determined to be the first person on Jessop Square to throw a dinner party. But having never cooked anything other than an egg, Brenda quickly shifts all responsibility on to Tony.
The 10-year-old version of Emma will be played by Lucy Hutchinson, who has had roles in Little Crackers, Not Going Out and Inside No. 9. And in the first episode she loses control of her play fort to nemesis Julie.
Family friends Tim and Jenny are played by a moustachioed Harry Peacock, from Toast Of London, and Emma Piersen, from Sun Trap; while Clive Rowe and Shola Adewusi play neighbours David and Dee.
The Kennedys follows the BBC successes of Danny And The Human Zoo and Cradle to Grave in recreating the 1970s memories of now-established presenters – Lenny Henry and Danny Baker respectively. While Raised By Wolves re-imagined Caitlin Moran's upbringing in modern-day Wolverhampton.
Kennedy has written the scripts, loosely based on her memoirs, The Tent, The Bucket and Me.
