A dark day for Josh Widdicombe
Josh Widdicombe was forced to cancel the opening night of his tour last night after a power cut hit the Playhouse Theatre in Oxford.
The comic offered to buy the audience a drink after having to cancel the show at the last minute.
He said: 'My view on a tour is don't peak too early and I am pretty sure we have managed to avoid that on this one.
'I don't want to set my sights too high but if we can achieve light and amplification in Wimborne tonight then it is a real step in the right direction.'
In a statement, the venue added: 'We'd just like to say a big "thank you" to everyone who had tickets for last night's cancelled shows. Your good humour, patience and kindness left us speechless - we hope you were able to stay for a drink on Josh Widdicombe and that you can join us for the rescheduled show.'
The What Do I Do Now... tour will now revisit the venue on January 22, with fans offered refunds if they cannot make the new date.
Widdicombe is on tour until December (Dates) and will be returning to Channel 4's The Last Leg for a Stand Up 2 Cancer special this autumn with a new series returning in 2016. And his new sitcom Josh will air on BBC Three later this year.
The Oxford Playhouse is currently still without power.
