Benidorm named best TV comedy
BENIDORM was named best comedy at the TV Choice Awards last night, and Big Bang Theory won the prize for best international show, all voted for by viewers.
A COMEDIAN could become president of Guatemala. TV star Jimmy Morales is leading an initial poll with 24 per cent of the vote, with only a few results still to come in. Long-serving politician Manuel Baldizón and former first lady Sandra Torres were tied for second, significantly behind Morales. The top two finishers will go head-to-head in a runoff ballot on October 25.
REV star Rev Miles Jupp says he would be very surprised if the church-based sitcom returns after it ended its third series last year. 'It seemed to be to be finished,' the comedian told Radio Times. 'Although I thought the same after series two. I would be very surprised if there was more. I don't see it.'
A DOCUMENTARY in which Richard Pryor's daughter, Rain, explores her relationship with her later father is to get its UK premiere at the British Urban Film Festival next week. That Daughter’s Crazy will be the opening night gala of the festival at Genesis Cinema, Stepney Green, East London, at 6pm on Friday September 18, followed by a Q&A with Pryor hosted by Angie Le Mar.
TWO charity benefits due to be held at the Bloomsbury Theatre have moved, after the London venue was closed because of asbestos. The Laugh Till It Hurts shows planned for October 14 and November 4 have moved to Koko in Camden on November 25 and 5 respectively.
