Andy Field scoops Chortle Student title
ANDY FIELD, a 23-year-old creative writing masters student at Brunel University in West London, won the final of the Chortle Student Comedy Award at the Edinburgh Fringe last night. It was the fourth time he's entered the contest, but he had never previously progressed beyond the first heat. Liam Pickford, who is studying for PGCE at University Campus Oldham, was runner-up:
SOME of Britain's leading left-wing comedians are throwing their weight behind Jeremy Corbyn's Labour leadership bid, with a fundraiser in London. Jeremy Hardy and Mark Steel – both of whom were banned from voting under rules that excludes those who don't share 'Labour values' – head the line-up that also includes Arthur Smith, Ava Vidal, Francesca Martinez and Sara Pascoe, The gig takes place at the Forum in London on September 14, and tickets are available here.

SOUTH AFRICAN comedians Alan Committie, Tumi Morake and Siv Ngesi are heading to London for a two-night Cape Town Funny Festival at the Greenwich Theatre on November 20 and 21.
