Youth Hostelling with Chris Eubank hits screens
It was the show a desperate Alan Partridge pitched to the BBC as his world fell apart. Now Youth Hostelling with Chris Eubank has become a reality.
The former boxer has signed a deal to advertise booking website Hostelworld, with an online clip trailing a possible series.
The one-minute film was shot in a youth hostel in Eubank’s home town of Brighton, 18 years after Steve Coogan’s creation pitched the idea while suffering a breakdown.
Eubank said: ‘Up until recently, I had absolutely no idea why people used to mention hostels to me and smile. It was truly an unsolved mystery to me.
‘Youth Hostelling with Chris Eubank has now become a reality, and I’m delighted that Hostelworld has given me this great opportunity to get to know the world of youth hostelling.
‘Finally, albeit a little embarrassed and ashamed, I’m in on the joke 18 years after Alan Partridge pitched it.’
The company are remaining coy about whether this heralds the start of a real series, but here’s the trailer:
