BBC Two drops Nurse
The BBC has axed Paul Whitehouse's TV comedy-drama Nurse.
Four episodes of the series, about a community psychiatric nurse Liz, played by Esther Coles, aired on BBC Two earlier this year, attracting just under a million viewers on its launch.
Whitehouse played many of Liz’s patients, with cast that also included Cecilia Noble, Simon Day and Jo Enright.
However the Radio 4 series it is based on will be returning.
A BBC spokesman said: 'BBC Two and BBC Comedy are incredibly proud of Nurse and we’d like to thank Paul and Esther for their outstanding performances. Sadly the series won’t be returning to the channel but will continue on Radio 4.'
But he added:'Paul can soon be seen on BBC Two alongside Harry in An Evening with Harry Enfield and Paul Whitehouse.'
Whitehouse’s Fast Show co-star Higson first revealed the news in a tweet yesterday.
