Ryan gigs with the stars
Katherine Ryan has been signed up to join the North American Oddball tour, headlined by Aziz Ansari and Amy Schumer.
She will become the first British-based act ever to join the line-up when she takes part in the show in Toronto's 20,000-capacity Molson Canadian Amphitheatre on September 6.
It will be a return to her home province for Ryan, who has lived in the UK since 2008 and who hosted the final of BBC Two's Hair competition last night.
She told Chortle: 'I am on an imperialist mission to charm, then capture Amy Schumer in the name of Britain. I'm worried that I can't drink or joke or date or write or #slay like she can, but I do have a fine knowledge of Toronto poutine restaurants on my side.
'My entire life has been leading up to this point. I won't let my country down.'
The rotating bill for the 18-date Oddball Comedy & Curiosity Festival, now in its third year, also includes Tim Minchin, Todd Barry, Dave Attell, Jim Norton, John Mulaney and others – although Ansari and Amy Schumer appear at every show. The tour is presented by the Funny Or Die website, and kicks off on August 28 in Kansas, ending in Dallas on October 18.
Geof Wills, president of promoters Live Nation Comedy, said: 'Oddball 2015 is going to go down as one of the most incredible slate of comedy talent ever amassed for a national concert tour,'
Ryan has also today added a third extra date to her Edinburgh Fringe show, Kathbum – at the Pleasance Dome at 9.30pm on August 19.
