Vikki Stone to perform at Cern
Vikki Stone is to perform at the home of the large hadron collider – as part of their series of TED talks.
The musical comic will be performing at Cern in Switzerland after performing her science-based song on BBC One's John Bishop Show last month.
After singing the praises of Professor Brian Cox in typically raunchy lyrics, she was surprised by the appearance of the particle physicist on stage.
Now she is turning up at his workplace, as Cox works on the Atlas experiment at the collider.
Stone will be joining the likes of pioneering neurobiologist Madeline Lancaster, plasma physicist Edda Gschwendtner and bio-ethicist S. Matthew Liao at the TEDxCern event on October 9.
Stone said: 'I'm incredibly honoured to have been asked to share a platform with some of the world's greatest minds and thinkers and scientists. What the hell they were thinking when they asked me along, I don't know.'
It is the third edition of the independently organised TED event, and has the theme Breaking The Rules. 'I'll be more than happy to do that for them,' Stone added.
The event is by invitation only and free of charge, although a limited number of tickets will be available to the public, and are expected to be released soon.
Cern previously hosted a comedy show, with Helen Keen, Jonny Berliner, Pierre Novellie and Belgian comedian Lieven Scheire, performing there two years ago.
Stone, who has previously appeared on ITV's This Morning and Radio 4's The Now Show, will soon to appear on an episode of new ITV2 panel show Safeword, alongside Katherine Ryan and David Morgan. Here she is on the John Bishop Show:
