A tight 5: July 1

JACK WHITEHALL's Bad Education movie has been given a UK release date of August 21. In the film, which co-stars Harry Enfield, Mathew Horne and Sarah Solemani, Whitehall's teacher character Alfie Wickers takes his class on a post-GCSE holiday abroad.

PETER KAY's Car Share has been nominated for a TV Choice Award for best comedy. The BBC One show has been shortlisted alongside ITV's Benidorm and Birds Of A Feather and the BBC Two satire W1A. Vote here.

Tom Rosenthal and Naz Osmanoglu are to give fans a peak at their new BBC Three show, Flat TV on Friday – thanks to a series of Periscope broadcasts. They will take to the Twitter-owned video streaming service at various points from Twickenham studios, alerting followers via tweets at @RosenTweets and @Naz_Osmanoglu. The real-lfe flatmates originally piloted the show for the Comedy Feeds strand of online shorts.

AMERICAN comic Jack Carter has died at the age of 93. Known for his motormouth delivery of one-liners, he became a regular on post-war variety shows, starting a broadcast career that would last until shortly before his death, with recent roles on Parks and Recreation, New Girl and the US version of Shameless.
