Phone joke rings a bell...

WTF: Weekly Trivia File

• 'I don't have to be good-looking - I'm funny.' Jason Manford.

Even phones are plagiarising comedians now, it seems… One reader gets in touch to grass up his Galaxy S3, whose S-voice assistant gave this reply when asked to tell him a joke. It's a Tim Vine gag… although he says 'I'm no Dean Martin' when he tells it, a name no doubt chosen after road testing dozens, the name change isn't fooling anyone. In the name of research, we put the same request to Apple's Siri, which replied: 'If I told you a joke in my language I'd have to explain', and if you insist says: "How many iPhones does it take to… OK, never mind.'

Richard Pryor's daughter says she was visited by her father's ghost while performing on stage. Rain said he was talking about him beating up women during her show at the National Black Theater in New York when she felt his presence. 'I look up and my dad was standing there and he was in the suit that he wears in the picture in the backdrop behind me on stage,' she says. 'I wanted to stop and just talk to him and be like, "Oh my God, you're here". I didn't know what I was supposed to do after that, because I'm thinking, "Does anyone see what I'm seeing?" I believe in esoteric things, but I've never had the experience of an apparition in my life, and that was my first one, ever!'. Rain added: 'I wasn't on drugs and I didn't drink anything.'

A Stephen Merchant fan has had the comedian's likeness iced onto his birthday cake this week.

• Amy Schumer continues to exude wonderfulness. This week it was reported that she left a waiter a 1,000 per cent tip – $500 on a $49 bill at Peter's Clam Bar in Long Island, New York – after empathising with the college student who is working two jobs to pay for his education. She downplayed her generosity, tweeting: 'I'm just really bad at math. so embarrassing.'

• The Los Angeles home of Golden Girls star Bea Arthur has gone on the market for $16 million. The comedy actress bought the five-bedroom property in 1980 for less than $600,000, and constantly improved it until her death at the age of 86 in 2009. Take a snoop around here

• Burbs star Rick Ducommun, whose diabetes-related death is reported today, once had a business building mini houses on the backs of old pickup trucks, selling them as Back to Nature Hippy Camperettes.

• 'I think I've got quite a frightening face, but an intriguing face, like an old witch' Noel Fielding
