POET Ian McMillan is to present a radio documentary about professional footballer turned TV comedy star Charlie Williams, one of the first black British stand-ups to make it into the mainstream through shows such as The Comedians. Hello Me Old Flower will air on Radio 4 on July 2.

GASPING, the short film starring Frankie Boyle as an alcoholic who's offered a job at a distillery, is to be get its European the Edinburgh International Film Festival next week. Directed by Still Game's Greg Hempill, it will be part of a programme that also features Karen Gillan's Coward, airing on June 19 Details. Gasping had its world premier at the Los Angeles Comedy Festival in November.
