• Australian TV comedy show The Project has had to apologise after advertising an appearance by US comedian Michael Che – by using footage of a completely different black comic. The show used clips of Jay Pharoah, a Saturday Night Live co-star of Che's, in a trailer by mistake. And potentially more embarrassingly, it also used clips of Che in the same advert – and no one noticed they were two different people. Host Waleed Aly issued the on-air apology… and by coincidence he had previously been the subject of a mix-up when Melbourne newspaper The Age illustrated a story about him joining the show with an image of a different 'brown' comic, Nazeem Hussain.

• A bunch of stand-ups have set up an impromptu comedy club on the London Underground. Christian Elderfield, Leo Kearse, Tony Marrese, Chris Joyce and David Alfie Ward entertained commuters on the Victoria Line, and recorded their efforts on YouTube. Elderfield said that before their performance the comics were ‘really nervous as people are notoriously miserable and never look like they want to be spoken to, let alone laugh at any jokes. But once we got started and highlighted that we weren’t beggars everyone started to get on board.’ The group intend to perform on every line on the Tube to see which is the happiest.

• Two And A Half Men star Jon Cryer has revealed that he lost out on the role of Chandler Bing in Friends – because his audition tape got held up in the post. He auditioned in London where he was in a play, but, as he revealed to James Corden on The Late, Late Show, the tape of his try-out was delayed in customs and never made it to the producers in LA on time.
