Muppets 'set for TV comeback'

...by Big Bang Theory co-creator

The Muppets could be returning to TV.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, America’s ABC network is working with Big Bang Theory co-creator Bill Prady on a script that could herald the return of Jim Henson’s creations to the small screen.

A so-called ‘proof of concept’ is set to be filmed next week – taster scenes that will demonstrate whether the idea could work.

The premise is reportedly that the ensemble of Muppets meet network executives about reviving their stage variety show; but Miss Piggy is refusing to sign up because of her turbulent relationship with Kermit.

The revived Muppets is being considered by ABC after initial interest from Netflix, following the success of the rebooted movies in 2008 and 2014.

Prady stated his career with Jim Henson and if the Muppets are revived, he is expected to juggle the new show with running Big Bang Theory on the rival CBS network.
