Hannibal Buress gets his own Comedy Central show

Eight-episode deal in the US

Stand-up Hannibal Buress has been signed up to front his own weekly comedy show on America’s Comedy Central.

Why? With Hannibal Buress, promises to answer the burning topical questions on his mind based the week’s events, using through stand-up, filmed segments, man-on-the-street interviews and in-studio guests.

Eight episodes of the show have been given the green light.

‘Hannibal keeps asking us “why” so we just told him to go find out and we’ll air it,’ said Comedy Central executive Kent Alterman.

For hi part, Buress said: I’m extremely excited to help Comedy Central sell advertising.’

Buress signed a development deal with the broadcaster in 2013. He is a regular on their Broad City show and will take part in its upcoming roast of Justin Bieber. His latest special, Hannibal Buress Live from Chicago, aired on the network in May.

Last year, Buress made headlines when he revived the historic abuse allegations against Bill Cosby during an on-stage routine, leading to the renewed flurry of allegations against the older comic.

Buress – who has appeared at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2011 and 2012 – has previously written for NBC’s Saturday Night Live and 30 Rock.
