Chris Ramsey pilots C4 show

Based on 'mainstream pop culture' news

Chris Ramsey is piloting a new show for Channel 4 about the 'big mainstream pop culture stories'.

The show, Too Much Information, will also involve the studio audience taking part in 'social media challenges'.

Channel 4 says: 'With Chris having gained a notoriety on social media, who better to delve into the crème de la crème of the headlines, trends and news from across the media spectrum including TV, news and online?'

Ramsey, star of the BBC Two sitcom Hebburn, has 355,00 Twitter followers – and hit the headlines last year when his tweeted plea to get pizza delivered to a train went viral.

The pilot – which will be recorded in London next month but is not intended for broadcast – will be made by Avalon Television, who also make Russell Howard's Good News for another of their management clients.

Too Much Information also promises guest stand-ups along with clips, sketches and audience interaction.

Channel 4's head of formats, Dom Bird, commissioned the show. It is being overseen by Good News producer Mark Iddon with Avalon's Richard Allen-Turner and Jon Thoday as executive producers.
