A Slough death...
Sky 1 has ordered a new comedy-drama about the end of the world.
Apocalypse Slough revolves around a group of people who gather in the Berkshire town to witness the Earth’s destruction by an eight-mile wide comet. They include a British bank manager, an Italian nun, a female death row inmate, a White House civil servant and a one-eyed man.
The ten hour-long episodes will be directed by Michael Engler, who previously worked on 30 Rock and Sex And The City, written by Iain Hollands, who penned Beaver Falls, and made my Working Title TV.
The company’s head of television, Juliette Howell, told trade magazine Broadcast: ‘We wanted to tell a story about what might happen to a group of ordinary people confronted with the idea that the world is about to end, the chaos that might ensue and how you can deal with that in a comedic way. It’s not a doom and gloom piece,” said Howell.
Sky 1 director Adam MacDonald added: ‘The show has bundles of energy, vibrancy and laughter, as well delivering an exuberant and heart-warming story on an epic scale.’
The show will air later this year.
