Rob Brydon’s American career is to get a boost after he landed a guest role on HBO’s new comedy series The Brink.

Green Wing and Bad Education star Michelle Gomez will also appear in the political comedy – as Brydon’s wife.

The pair play ‘an intelligent, tight-knit, eccentric couple’ according to Hollywood website Deadline.

The Brink is described as an ‘epic dark comedy’ and stars Tim Robbins as Jack Black as the US Secretary of State and Jack Black as a low-ranking Foreign Service officer trying to save the world from the Third World War.

Brydon is known to some American audience for his role in The Trip and Gavin & Stacey, which airs on BBC America.
