Birmingham gets a new comedy club
Birmingham is getting a new weekly comedy club, in a lap dace and strip club.
The Rocket Club, originally built as a Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club before switching to the stag market, will host comedy from Friday September 19.
Venue manager Warrick Ramseier was keen to point out: 'Our comedy shows will not overlap with our current late-night entertainment, and audiences will have the opportunity to leave the venue before this commences.'
The club will be booked by Hilarious Comedy, run by Ryan Gough. He said: 'Our aim will be to combine our favourite, circuit headliners with the cream of local acts. Brummies like nothing more than to have a laugh at themselves and their City, and we know they love to see "one of their own" on stage entertaining them.'
The new venue is just a couple of doors down from Jongleurs, on the bar-packed Broad Street.
The city also has a Glee club and the first weekly outpost of Jason Manford's new club network. Last year plans for new Just The Tonic comedy club in Birmingham were postponed indefinitely.
