Millie, 12, gets her own sitcom

CBBC orders 'blended family' comedy

A 12-year-old Scottish schoolgirl is to star in her own BBC sitcom.

Millie Innes will soon start filming the self-titled Millie Show in Dumbarton for the CBBC channel.

It revolves around a girl whose parents split up, and how she balances the benefits of two separate parents with the jealousy she feels towards her mum and dad’s new partners – and step-siblings.

Millie previously starred as Maisy in CBBC’s Dani’s House, and played David Tennant’s child in the TV drama Single Father, pictured.

CBBC controller Cheryl Taylor said: ‘The Millie Show is a timely commission, as many of our audience are now living in blended families. Millie is a feisty, resourceful girl, full of big ideas on how to deal with her difficult new circumstances. The trouble is, not everyone in her newly extended family agrees with her plans.’

Millie’s agent, Alison Bruce, added: “Millie’s an amazingly talented young actor who has impressed some top casting directors. She's an absolute joy to work with and we've represented her since she was four years old.’
