BBC One goes back to Big School

Second series for David Walliams comedy

David Walliams comedy Big School is to return for a second series.

BBC One controller Charlotte Moore made the announcement at a Bafta session today, when she also revealed the return of Citizen Khan.

She said of Big School: ‘I loved the fact that we were in a new precinct and environment, with a stellar cast.’

And she suggested that the sitcom could have a long run, with many more series ahead.

Walliams co-created the series with writing trio The Dawson Brothers and starred alongside Catherine Tate. The ensemble cast also included Philip Glenister, Frances de la Tour, Daniel Rigby and Joanna Scanlan.

The first series aired on BBC One in August and September. It launched with 5.3million viewers, and settled down around the 3.8million mark.
