Shooting starts on Inbetweeners 2
Shooting is to start on the sequel to the Inbetweeners movie this week – as it is confirmed that the action will be in Australia.
It had been reported that the film would involve Jay, Neil, Simon and Will heading down under, and now creators, Iain Morris and Damon Beesley have substantiated the rumours – almost.
In a statement, they joked: 'We can’t say too much as we don’t want to spoil the jokes for you, but what we can exclusively reveal is there will be kangaroos. And Australians. And possibly koalas.
'Oh and obviously Jay, Will, Neil and Simon providing they’re let into the country.'
Filming starts in Australia on Saturday, before moving to the UK in January.
Morris and Beesley will be directing, having once again written the script, with Spencer Millman – whose credits include The Mighty Boosh, Man Down – producing.
The 2011 original, set on a summer holiday on Crete, became the most successful British comedy film, taking £45 million at the box office on a production budget of £3.5 million.
Morris and Beesley added: 'Thanks so much for all your support, we’re hoping to deliver a film that you’ll enjoy even more than the last one.'
The Inbetweeners Movie 2, starring James Buckley, Blake Harrison, Joe Thomas and Simon Bird, will hit cinemas in the UK and Ireland next August.
