THE MIGHTY BOOSH are to perform their first live dates in the UK for three years. Noel Fielding and Julian Barrett will be performing two gigs at the Soho Theatre next month. They will play half an hour of material as the Mighty Boosh Band as a warm-up for their appearance at the Festival Supreme in Santa Monica, California, next month. But tickets for the intimate shows on September 29 and 30 were snapped up almost immediately.

LONDON’s Greenwich Comedy Festival – which had planned to move to Brick Lane in East London before being axed in the face of protests from local residents – is back in a reduced form. Organisers plan two days of events over the weekend of November 2 with acts including David O’Doherty, Mark Watson and Andrew Maxwell. Rather than erecting marquees, the shows will take place in existing venues in Greenwich. Website.

RAB C NESBITT producer Rebecca Papworth is rejoining the BBC’s in-house comedy production team based in Salford after spending two years with the independent company Princess. And BBC radio comedy executive Steve Canny has been promoted to executive producer of comedy in Scotland, where he will be responsible for TV output, too.

MRS BROWN creator Brendan O'Carroll has won a People of the Year Award in Ireland for his services to the entertainment industry. Judges said his sitcom ‘is flying the flag high for Irish entertainment’.

FORMER Time Out comedy editor Tim Arthur will become acting chief executive of the whole group next month. Currently editor-in-chief of Time Out London, he will take the helm of the whole international multimedia group when Aksel van der Wal steps down after three years.
