Script in development with C4

David Baddiel has written his first new sitcom in 12 years.

He currently has the single-camera script Sit.Com in development with Channel 4.

The single-camera show is said to be a backlash to films and TV shows that depict the dark side of technology, such as Charlie Brooker’s Black Mirror or The Matrix. ‘It chooses instead to focus on the everyday, domestic reality of an ordinary, technology-addicted modern family,’ said a spokesman for his agent, Avalon.

Sit.Com, which he is writing with comic Barnaby Slater, will be Baddiel’s first foray into the genre since his 2001 Sky1 series Baddiel’s Syndrome.

The comic has also recently returned to stand-up, and presents his first full solo show, Fame: Not The Musical, at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe.

In the interim, he has turned to novel-writing, but also penned the 2010 film The Infidel, which starred Omid Djalili, and contributed to Sky 1’s Little Crackers strand in the same year.
