Tuesday

TV: Britain’s own John Oliver takes over The Daily Show as regular host Jon Stewart goes gallivanting off to shoot a movie. His first episode as host aired in the States on Monday, and makes it to Comedy Central Extra here the next day, at 11pm.

LIVE IN LEICESTER: Perennial favourite Daniel Kitson continues his witty, thought-provoking and self-reflective tour After The Beginning. Before The End at Just The Tonic, Leicester. He also visits the birmingham MAC on Wednesday and Hull Truck Theatre on Friday.

RADIO: The pilot episode of Little Monster, a new comedy from Horrible Histories writer Gerard Foster revolves around new mother Karen, as played by Miranda’s Sarah Hadland, who has literally given birth to a little monster, complete with fangs, scales and horns. Rufus Jones plays husband Nick, and listen out for Bridget Christie as Sammy. Radio 4, 11pm

TV: Eddie Izzard joins the grizzly thriller Hannibal as the psychiatric inmate Cheapskate Ripper. Sky Living 10pm

Wednesday

LIVE IN GRAVESEND: The cream of the circuit play this benefit at the Woodville Halls including Adam Bloom, Hattie Hayridge, Isy Suttie, Paul Sinha, Ricky Grover and Terry Alderton. It’s in aid of local seven-year-old Stacey Mowle, who has the aggressive neuroblastoma cancer of the nervous system, and which requires about £500,000 to treat abroad.

LIVE IN HUDDERSFIELD Everyman comic Jason Manford launches his new tour, First World Problems, at the Lawrence Batley Theatre. That show’s sold out – as is is second date at Shrewsbury Theatre Severn on Thursday – but there are tickets for the shows at Halifax’s Victoria Theatre on Friday and Saturday.

Thursday

LIVE IN LONDON: As his pal, and Bugle podcast colleague, John Oliver begins his stin on The Daily Show, Andy Zaltzman bares his satirical fangs, along with like-minded guests in Political Animal. It’s on at the Udderbelly – just across the river and down a bit from Parliament should any MPs want to pop along – at 9pm

TV The third episode of Psychobitches features a new batch of historical female figures on the therapist’s couch, including Sam Spiro as Liz Taylor and The League Of Gentlemen’s Reece Shearsmith as Old Mother Shipton. Sky Arts 1. 9pm

LIVE IN BEXHILL: If you like your comedy left-leaning, politically, you can’t go wrong with this benefit for Hastings Furniture Service. The line-up at the De La Warr Pavilion includes Mark Thomas, Mark Steel, Josie Long and Ivor Dembina, and the show kicks off at 7.30pm.

Saturday

LIVE IN DUBLIN: A couple more strong benefits today include this one at Vicar Street, in aid of the Temple Street Children’s University Hospital.On the bill are David O’Doherty, Eleanor Tiernan, Karl Spain, Bernard O’Shea, Dublin City  Improv and many more.

LIVE IN AYLESBURY: And this fundraiser in is for Enrych, a charity which enables people with physical disabilities to live a full and active life. The eclectic A-list bill features Lee Mack, Milton Jones, Boothby Graffoe, Francesca Martinez, Lloyd Langford and compere Robin Ince.
