Peter Kay tops comedy rich list
Peter Kay has topped a list of Britain’s top-earning comedians, with an income of £32.8million over the past two years.
His earnings put him in the same league as footballers such as Wayne Rooney, who receives £11million a year.
Second in the list is Michael McIntyre, with £21million over the past two years, followed by John Bishop on £6.3million.
The chart was compiled by the Sunday Mirror from publicly available accounts lodged at Companies House for comics who run their affairs via a company.
However, there are some obvious omissions from the list, such as Lee Evans, whose tours are always bestsellers, Jimmy Carr, or Mrs Brown’s Boys creator Brendan O’Carroll, who has enjoyed phenomenal DVD sales in the past two years.
