An early Stand
The Stand has today its Fringe programme, boasting Mark Thomas, Stewart Lee and Stephen K Amos among its headliners.
The club is programming 37 shows each day across four venues – or almost 900 performances over the month – including the long-awaited return of Alexei Sayle, as previously reported by Chortle.
Other festival stalwarts making a return include Susan Calman, Simon Munnery, Tony Law, Richard Herring, Bridget Christie and Simon Evans.
Brendon Burns, who has previously performed shows across the UK with ex-WWF wrestler Mick Foley will be appearing with another grappler, the US indie wrestler Colt Cabana, as well as in his solo show Brendon Burns Hasn't Heard Of You Either. Meanwhile the enigmatic Baconface makes his international debut.
Newcomers include Lost Voice Guy, aka Lee Ridley, who is unable to speak but delivers his stand-up via an iPad voice synthesiser.
Uniquely, all shows at The Stand are produced and financially underwritten by the venue. Director Tommy Sheppard said: ‘We’re proud that no comedian has ever lost money at the Stand during the Fringe.’
Venue 150 at the EICC has already announced much of its programme, with shows fromt he likes of Ed Byrne, Jason Manford, Jimeoin and Daniel Sloss.
