BBC to air unseen footage

Previously unseen footage of Dave Allen is to be screened in a new hour-long documentary about the comedian.

BBC Two has commissioned the programme, Dave Allen Night, to air next month.

It will feature Allen’s son, daughter and widow, s well as reuniting many of the cast and crew from Dave Allen At Large at BBC Television Centre, before it is closed down

Talking heads to appear in the show will include Dame Maggie Smith, Val Doonican, Stephen Frears and Steven Berkoff.

BBC commissioner Gilly Hall said: ‘Dave was an entertainer ahead of his time and an acclaimed actor too who has not been seen on British TV for many years.’

Allen died in 2005, at the age of 68.
