Jeffrey Tambor joins The Onion
Online role for Arrested Development star
Arrested Development star Jeffrey Tambor is to star in a new comedy show from satirical website The Onion.
In The Onion Presents: The News, Tambor will play heavyweight news anchor David Everett, who is smart but insecure about his position as he gets older.
The series, set behind the scenes of the fictional news outlet, is being made for an online audience by Amazon Studios. According to Hollywood industry website Deadline, which broke the news, Tambor turned down a broadcast pilot to take the Onion role.
The actor – who shot to fame as Larry Sanders sidekick Hank Kingsley – is also reprising his role as George Bluth Sr in the new season of Arrested Development, which has been revived for subscribers to Netflix.
