Lee Mack is Mr Saturday Night
Lee Mack has landed a prime-time Saturday-night entertainment show – as well as two more series of his sitcom Not Going Out.
BBC One has given the green light to Lee Mack's All Star Cast, following a successful pilot shot just before Christmas.
The show will feature a mix of stand-up, guests, and music – plus sketches in which members of the audience will perform alongside the celebrities.
Six 45-minute episodes have been ordered from production house Zeppotron and Mack’s own company, Arlo Productions.
The pilot reunited the comic with Catherine Tate, who had previously worked with him on his Edinburgh Fringe sketch shows. After the test episode had been filmed he said: ‘I don't feel any more pressure just because it's a bigger audience. I'll put the same amount of work in as I would for anything else I do.’
Meanwhile the BBC has also ordered series five and six of Not Going Out, in which Mack stars alongside Tim Vine and Sally Bretton.
It is a remarkable revival for the gag-heavy show, which had previously been dropped by the BBC, only to be brought back for a fourth series.
Mack said: ‘It's great news. I can finally get that extension finished.’
