Live topical show for Channel 4
Channel 4 has ordered a new live topical comedy show from the same team that created its Alternative Election Night coverage.
Presenters Jimmy Carr, Charlie Brooker, David Mitchell and Lauren Laverne will be reunited for the new series, tentatively titled 10 O'Clock Live.
The show – due to air next year – will be made by Zeppotron, the same company that produced the election night coverage, which proved a big draw for viewers aged 16 to 34.
Channel 4 commissioner Darren Smith told The Guardian: ‘The success of the Alternative Election Night proved that there is an appetite for a show that mixes comedy and the news agenda together in a way that produces genuine insight as well as laugh-out-loud moments.
‘10 O'Clock Live will provide a fresh and unashamedly intelligent take on current affairs from a young perspective.’
Carr confirmed the news on Twitter, tweeting: ‘C4 have commissioned 15 shows with me @charltonbrooker @realdmitchell & @laverneshow for next year. Live TV what could possibly go right?’
