Edinburgh: The first 270 shows

What we know so far...

Chortle today reveals the details of more than 270 comedy shows heading to the Edinburgh Fringe.

The full programme will be released on Thursday, but our early listings represent around a third of the total in the comedy section.

Among the bigger names returning to the Fringe are Al Murray – hosting a pub quiz – Adam Hills, Stewart Lee, Jason Byrne, Emo Philips, Mark Watson, Tim Vine, John Bishop, Jim Jefferies, Hans Teeuwen, Stephen K Amos and Kevin Bridges.

Meanwhile, Jennifer Coolidge, the actress best known for playing Stifler's mom, the ‘MILF’ in the American Pie films is performing her own one-woman show, Cheers star George Wendt will be reading from bad memoirs in Celebrity Autobiography, while young teenage musical comedy sensation Bo Burnham is at the Pleasance Dome.

Other shows coming to the Fringe, but not yet featuring in our listings since we don’t yet have the full details include a solo show from Rufus Hound; the cult American ‘anti-comedian’ Neil Hamburger; and Gutted: A Revenger's Musical written by Danielle Ward and Martin White and featuring a host of comic stars.

Outside of the comedy section, Abi Titmuss will be appearing in John Godber’s rugby play Up And Under at Assembly, where Simon Callow will also be performing in a play about Shakespeare.
